He was the seventh ruler of Adil Shah Dynasty. This magnificent monument was constructed by the architect Yaqut of Dabul, in the year The monument derives its name from "Gola Gummata" or "Gol Gombadh", which mean a "circular dome". Constructed as per the Deccan architecture, Gol Gumbaz is one of the most significant monuments of India located in the state of Karnataka.

Gol Gumbaz is a fabulously imposing structure, towering 51 meters above the surrounding city of Vijayapura and representing one of the most important examples of late-medieval Indo-Islamic architecture.
With a diameter of 44 meters, the dome of Gol Gumbaz ranks among the largest domes of the pre-modern world and is supported by a series of interlocking arches without any columns. Construction began shortly after he ascended the throne in and apparently was not yet fully completed by the time he died in , when work finally stopped. Its massive single chamber covers 1, square meters and sits atop a basement tomb containing the remains of sultan, as well as those of his two wives, his mistress, his daughter and his grandson.
Each corner of the building is graced by a seven-story-tall minaret containing stairs that provide access to the whispering gallery. Get there very early in the morning so that you can enjoy the whispering gallery, when you have the place all to yourself.

Construction of the tomb, located in Vijayapura formerly Bijapur , Karnataka , India , was started in and completed in The name is based on G ola gummata derived from Gol Gombadh meaning "circular dome". The structure is composed of a cube, Eight intersecting arches created by two rotated squares that create interlocking pendentives support the dome. At each of the four corners of the cube, is a dome-capped octagonal tower seven storeys high with a staircase inside. The dome is one of the largest domes constructed before the modern era   and was the largest in existence when it was constructed.
