You can pin down Real astrology: was the astrologer correct or not correct? The horary method answering questions is the spine and bones of Real Astrology. Frawley cannot start the book by handing you example charts or by recounting his own greatness in dealing with clients. He begins with explaining the tools of horary, and then he steps you through the houses, one at a time, so that you understand the types of questions that apply to each different house.

Frawley assumes the reader already knows a few basics of astrology, at least the modern basics. But he does explain the Real concepts of dignity and detriment, etc. His book is also entertaining to read, very witty.

All that being said, I was a little disappointed to find that the REVISED EDITION is simply the original edition with highlighted notes added every few paragraphs to show new information or to inform the reader that Frawley has now changed his mind about what he wrote in the original and here is his updated opinion. I applaud him for his frankness in updating things.

All astrologers will change some opinions on some things as they mature, but it can be a doggone nuisance to read three paragraphs, think you understand what he's saying, and then Frawley tells you he doesn't hold that opinion any more. Whatever you do, if you are looking for help with a chart, make sure you don't miss any end notes that will flip your conclusion around. Still, this is the best horary book in print. If you want to understand horary astrology, this is the book to read.

And then Lilly and the rest! Puts every other author on the subject to abject shame. Frawley's strength is that he is a logical thinker, and logic is absolutely imperative in coming to correct astrological judgment, i. Other authors on horary throw so many rules, "could-be"s, and statements of dubious logic at the reader in coming to judgment that, it seems, anything could be true from any chart at any time. Frawley's logical and, therefore, more simple approach cuts through all that nonsense, with the benefit that he gets more detail and accuracy out of a chart than one would think possible.

He is sui generis, a category of his own. I would give it 10 stars if I could. If I had to name a failing, it would be that it could benefit from additional complete charts and judgments. Love this book.

Frawley explains it quite well. Horary has caused me to believe more so in intelligent design. Ok to ask the same question more than once? Of course it is. I always have asked multiple times. I come to horary with the big questions in my life. This is definitely a teaching manual and Frawley is a fine teacher. I recommend this book especially for beginners.

The chart was clearly no. I then went to the doctor and was later sent home with doctors orders to take Metamucil every day. Horary is a must in my life.

John Frawley - The Horary Textbook

William Lilly rightly says that once the student has the ability to set a chart, the most important thing to understand is the meanings of the houses. If we look at the wrong house to locate whatever our querenr is asking about, we shall probably arrive at the wrong answer to the querent's question. A clear under- standing of the houses is therefore essential. The chart is divided into twelve sections. Technically, these are called mundane houses or earthly houses in contrast to the celestial houses, which is another name for the signs of the zodiac. Although it is customary now to refer to the celestial houses as 'signs', it is worth remembering that they too are houses. The word 'house' can often be taken literally in the chart, as representing a physi- cal abode, whether it is a celestial sign or mundane house.
